Unlocking the Power of Inclusive Coaching
摘要
This chapter draws on our coaching expertise and wealth of experience from coaching clients as part of Inclusion Ecosystem© culture change and talent programs with multinational corporations. After defining inclusive coaching, we describe four competences (inclusion, cultural, diversity, and systemic competences) that we recommend coaches develop to realize the impact of inclusive coaching. Then, we present key themes from our coaching experience with nearly 1000 professionals (comprising a combination of professionals belonging to various historically marginalized groups, and their line managers and business leaders, majority of whom belong to advantaged social groups). Our thematic analyses of coaches’ experiences working with these groups shows that coaching, when practiced by qualified and skillful coaches with inclusion, cultural, diversity, and systemic competences, plays a vital role in supporting individuals from minoritized and dominant status groups deliver for diversity, equity, and performance in organizations. This chapter will help executive coaches, minority status and majority-status professionals understand and leverage the power of inclusion through coaching for career and organizational benefits.
