Visitors to Sacramento’s McKinley Park public pool were beside themselves. Parents stopped bringing their children to the pool, fear dominated conversations, and residents questioned the pool employees’ abilities to protect neighborhood kids while they were doing what kids do at the pool. The fear of a child drowning had become a secondary concern for residents in the neighborhood sitting just east of Midtown Sacramento in the summer of 2006.
