Sustaining a spinal cord injury (SCI) can be a devastating event for patients as well as their caregivers, and has far-reaching public health and economic consequences. Despite the significance this injury has on patients, pharmacological options remain scarce, limiting patient options to spinal surgery and rehabilitation. This chapter summarizes the novel pharmaceutical options being explored for the treatment of traumatic SCI across preclinical studies and early clinical trials.
