This chapter aims to present the different types of metaheuristic algorithms that exist in the literature, analyzing in detail the operation of the different operators that integrate them. In addition to this, this chapter shows the general structure that governs this type of algorithm, showing how the different search strategies work in optimization environments of the most popular algorithms that have had the greatest impact.
