The Development of New Technologies and Methods to Accelerate the Discovery and Validation of EV/EVPs as Clinical Biomarkers: An Introduction
摘要
Technological advancements are rapidly transforming extracellular vesicle and particle (EVP) research from an emerging field into valuable clinical tools. This chapter introduces the complex world of EVPs, encompassing membrane-bound vesicles and non-vesicular structures that serve as information-rich biomarkers in blood and other body fluids. Fundamental methodological challenges that have historically limited EVP research are being overcome with new technologies and the development of standardized reporting methods. Through selected examples of prostate cancer liquid biopsy EVP assays, we demonstrate how innovative technologies are enabling the transition from laboratory discoveries to validated clinical assays. This introduction previews some of the technological advancements featured in this book and demonstrates how these advancements collectively are overcoming analytical barriers and accelerating EVP biomarker discovery.
