This chapter provides an overview of benign asbestos-related pleural diseases, including pleural effusion, diffuse pleural fibrosis, rounded atelectasis, and parietal pleural plaques. Existing literature is reviewed, and each section of pleural disease includes descriptions of the related radiographic features, pathologic findings, and clinical implications. In addition, the historical background and epidemiologic considerations related to parietal pleural plaques are discussed.
