摘要

The increasing frequency, intensity, and dynamic nature of natural and man-induced hazards raise the complexities and challenges while monitoring hazards and their associated risk assessment in a spatiotemporal context demands more precise and realistic decision-making methodologies. In this intricate situation of decision-making in environmental management, Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) has entered as a structured and effective tool for reliable and realistic decision-making. To address the complexities of hazard monitoring and risk assessment, the different models which are incorporating the Geographical Information System, Remote Sensing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning like Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), TOPSIS, Fuzzy Logic applying appreciable techniques for decision-making analysis. This chapter explores the relevance of the application of models of MCDM to address complex situations while monitoring hazards and their associated risk assessment. This chapter also includes a discussion of present research works on environmental management with the application of models of MCDM. The future trend of application of MCDM’s models, which will become more effective with the inclusion of advanced technologies like AI, ML, and IoT, any researcher can get a suitable answer with the study of the current chapter and all the incorporated chapters of the present book. Additionally, the incorporation of multidisciplinary methods while applying the MCDM tool in decision-making to address environmental issues is discussed in this chapter.
