This concluding chapter examines how war spaces in Nagorno-Karabakh’s urban areas and Armenian heritage gained symbolic relevance during and after the conflict. The Second Karabakh War highlighted historical precedents that fuelled contemporary denialistic ideologies and practices. Shushi and Stepanakert experienced significant war-related changes, including cultural cleansing and destruction of Armenian settings. Sacred spaces and symbols were targeted. The war also had a transnational dimension, involving global Armenian communities and Turkish-affiliated groups and violence from Northern Syria.
