It is argued that living consciousness is more easily amenable to artistic than scientific inquiry. Observing his or her living consciousness, as well as the manifestations of living consciousness in the behaviour of others, an artist is free to describe the magical laws of living consciousness, while for a scientist these laws contradict the laws of nature and logic. That is why, for centuries, living consciousness has been studied primarily through the means of art. The aim of this chapter is to analyse three parts of the cycle of dramatic works by a great Russian poet A.S. Pushkin, known as Little Tragedies, as a phenomenon of artistic study of the functioning of living consciousness. Centuries ahead of modern psychology, A.S. Pushkin explored the laws of magical thinking that underlie living consciousness and showed the complex relationship into which living consciousness enters with the objectified consciousness of everyday reality.
