The previous chapters discussed the ins and outs of what cooperative economics is, how it differs from the structures, goals, and ethos of contemporary capitalism, and how capitalism and cooperative economics vary when it comes to economic justice. This chapter provides a fresh survey of ideas and practices of economic justice in three major streams of religion—Indic, East Asian, and Abrahamic. It focuses primarily on the earliest forms (pre-modern) of each stream, and then connect them to contemporary practices of cooperative economics.
