This chapter introduces quantum gates—a set of basic unitary (and therefore reversible) operations on qubits used in information processing applications. Nonfactorable operations on multiple qubits are of particular importance. In such gates, a unitary operation is applied on one of two qubits, depending on the state of the other. These are called controlled gates since one qubit effectively controls another.

摘要

This chapter introduces quantum gates—a set of basic unitary (and therefore reversible) operations on qubits used in information processing applications. Nonfactorable operations on multiple qubits are of particular importance. In such gates, a unitary operation is applied on one of two qubits, depending on the state of the other. These are called controlled gates since one qubit effectively controls another.
