Mobilization is a process that combines all the elements of a tunnel project and ensures they are ready to be executed. There is no doubt that the correct estimate of the time for mobilization for the tunneling project is one of the critical factors in the success of that project. It is generally accepted that the mobilization time of a TBM is higher than that of any equipment from a drill and blast tunneling project. Bearing in mind these realities, the main objective of this Chapter was to summarize the mobilization time of the equipment from TBM tunneling and drill and blast tunneling comparatively. The supply time of a TBM to be used in the TBM tunneling, which was subject to in Chap. 7 , was reported as 10–12 months. However, for Kozyatağı-Kadıköy Metro tunnels having specific futures, the supply time of an EPB-TBM of 6.6 in diameter and 600 t of weight was around 19 months. Besides this, some manufacturers claim that Onsite First Time Assembly (OFTA) is used efficiently on several global projects to shorten overall delivery times to supply TBMs, saving several months in mobilization time.
