This chapter further investigates the role of energy not just on Jamaica but also from a global perspective. It also spends more time by looking at the various gender roles and how they also utilize energy from a primary perspective. The chapter also investigates how female-headed households and business also benefit. Based on these assumptions it also looks further at how the Caribbean is also benefitting with these energy uses and how the use of more renewable energy would affect the production of women and the impact this has on the economics, social, and health of these females. This chapter also provides a quantitative assessment of the use of electricity especially in these single-headed households and the impact it has on the family and the community along with the type of usage of electricity. Special discussion is centred around disabled women, youth, and minority women which also showcases the impact of energy usage on these individuals.
