This chapter examines and explores the impact of energy poverty on gender. It goes further to look at the complex nature that vulnerable women are affected by their use and interpretation of the various forms of energy. This chapter examines the body of research on how energy poverty affects gender, with a focus on women. It starts by providing a global definition of energy poverty and its causes. The impact of energy poverty on women’s health, education, and economic prospects is then examined in detail. Potential remedies to energy poverty and gender equity are also covered in this chapter. The chapter concludes by offering suggestions on how stakeholders and legislators can combat energy poverty and advance gender parity. Globally, energy poverty affects millions of women, manifesting as inadequate access to essential energy services like electricity, clean cooking fuels, and heating. Women are more severely impacted by energy poverty because their gender roles often involve managing households and caregiving tasks.
