Cybersecurity Ethics: Case Studies
摘要
Ethical considerations in the field of cybersecurity are critical to fair and transparent decision making for the stakeholders of an organization or the general public in the age of rising cybersecurity challenges. This research provides an in-depth examination of two unique case studies regarding ethical practices in cybersecurity: PunkSpider and the Crisis Text Line. PunkSpider’s ability to publicly disclose vulnerabilities in web applications raises many questions about the potential for misuse of sensitive information, responsible disclosure, and accountability. The Crisis Text Line’s data handling practices highlight the crucial need to protect user privacy and confidentiality. During the study of these scenarios, ethical frameworks and lenses are applied to provide a comprehensive understanding of dilemmas that have been faced. This paper emphasizes the importance of ethical considerations, criteria, and questions for ethical decisions, as well as their consequences and impact to help improve trust and accountability in our technological landscape.
