Ports, intended as critical infrastructures, are ever more exposed to safety and security issues due to several reasons, including also international situation, globalization, and climate change. The purpose of the paper is to underline the importance of considering disruptions that safety and security events can introduce in ports, analyzing the “cascade effect” that a single event could introduce in the logistic network. The objective of the paper is to carry out a theoretical analysis of the benefits induced by the sharing of risk management plans towards the resilience of ports to adverse events in terms of safety and security, and consequently identify new best practices in the port security assessment methods.
