The paper presents the EGNSS MATE project on map-supported train localisation with onboard sensors and GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) for ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System). Details for the overall project and its work packages (state of the art, architecture, advanced GNSS and interference, map data and map-supported multi-sensor fusion, measurement campaigns) are given. The project is conducted within the ESA NAVISP programme by the partners SBB, IABG and DLR.
