Sensible Heat Energy Storage
摘要
This chapter reviews the use of sensible heat for energy storage. Most commonly this method is used to store excess thermal energy for later recovery as thermal energy for space heating or the production of hot water for domestic use, but larger scale facilities are also possible. The chapter describes the basic physics of sensible heat storage and some of its applications. These applications include heating and hot water applications for individual residences as well as for community-based heating systems. Finally, grid-based systems that store thermal energy for later electricity generation are presented.
