This chapter examines how digitalisation improves the efficiency and sustainability of short food supply chains (SFSCs). As agriculture evolves, it is transitioning towards digital practices and Agriculture 4.0, with a focus on improving food production efficiency. However, this evolution extends beyond food production, integrating processes at every stage of SFSCs, including storage, ordering, packaging, and delivery of local food. In these supply chains, Alternative Food Networks (AFNs) play a pivotal role in connecting various actors, fostering closer spatial-social relationships. The chapter examines the impact of digital technologies on logistics processes and the associated challenges in AFNs. Key findings indicate that digital tools improve the efficiency, competitiveness, and sustainability of AFNs, while offering recommendations for further innovations to enhance the resilience and effectiveness of local food systems.

摘要
