Several categories of Ad Hoc Mobile network protocols can be classified as proactive, reactive, and hybrid routing protocols. The best features of proactive and reactive routing protocols are gathered in hybrid routing protocols. This research paper discusses four different hybrid routing protocols in mobile ad hoc networks and the mechanism they follow based on the reactive and proactive routing protocols to establish the best route between the communicated nodes which are: CEDAR, ZRP, ZHLS, and SHARP. Also, it presents the advantages and the limitations of each protocol and the reason for them. Additionally, it summarizes some of the comparison criteria between them which are: Network Overhead, Packet Loss, Latency, Link Quality, and Network type.
