Promoting the Achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Through the Efforts of Young Social Entrepreneurs
摘要
Recently, it is argued that social entrepreneurship as a process for solving community-based problems has great potential in supporting individuals, communities, and governments in achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). More specifically, there is a considerable amount of literature that varies across contexts and conceptually establishes a desired link between social entrepreneurship and the achievement of SDGs. However, understanding how social entrepreneurship can play a significant role in achieving these goals at the practical level remains challenging. This paper aims to explore the role social entrepreneurship plays in advancing the UN SDGs at a practical level. The paper critically analyzes pedagogical models that relate social entrepreneurship to the UN SDGs. This is followed by the development of a practical model that can contribute to the achievement of SDGs. Then the paper explores the development and presentation of a conceptual model for assessing the impact of social entrepreneurship on the development of SDGs. It ends with a list of tips for designing and developing effective assessment framework to assist in implementing the proposed practical model that links social entrepreneurship to the achievement of SDGs.
