Nurturing Future Innovators: Integrating Computer Science and Technology in Early Childhood Education for Sustainable Development in Oman

Learning computer science and technology at an early age can result in the development of a technologically literate society. Oman Vision 2040 strategy emphasizes economic diversification, innovation, and technological advancement in Oman's national sustainable development goals. Building a workforce skilled in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) is essential to achieve these goals. This conceptual paper discusses the opportunity to develop a generation of technologically capable individuals ready to contribute to the evolving economy of Oman. Introducing computer science and digital literacy to preschool and kindergarten students can support in the creation of a future workforce that can easily access the tools and knowledge necessary to participate in Oman's digital transformation. Efforts to integrate technology into early childhood education need to be holistic, scalable, and aligned with the country's objectives of sustainable development and technological capacity building.
