Consumer Perceptions of Augmented and Virtual Reality Adoption in In-Flight Entertainment: An Exploratory Study
摘要
The overall objective of this study to explore the perception of airline passengers on use of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) as innovative tools for in-flight entertainment. The study used a survey, where questionnaires were distributed to 200 respondents in Muscat using email and social media platforms such as WhatsApp. Descriptive statistics were used in data analysis. The findings reveal that the respondents are generally awareness of AR and VR technologies, while some having prior experience using them for entertainments. Most of the respondents believe these technologies would enhance the fun and enjoyment of in-flight entertainment. In addition, some of the respondents are also willing to use and pay extra for these technologies if they are offered by airline. However, more than half of the respondents are cautious regarding physical health risks, emotional stress, and issues related to data privacy and safety. Therefore, we suggest that airline should adopt AR and VR as an in-flight entertainment option while addressing passengers’ concerns about health and privacy to ensure positive experience.
