Special Populations
摘要
It is important to address the nuanced landscape of diabetes management across diverse populations. Distinctive challenges are faced by older adults, for whom pharmacists can offer insights into tailored therapy recommendations, utilize continuous glucose monitoring, and consider lifestyle recommendations and pharmacological treatment. In the pediatric population, pharmacists can encourage collaborative efforts among families, schools, and health-care professionals. Additionally, pharmacists can thoroughly assess comorbidities and advocate for tailored approaches in renal and hepatic impairment scenarios. They can also implement multiple strategies for those with visual impairment and low health literacy, encapsulating a holistic and person-centered approach to diabetes care. Pharmacists also play a vital role in gestational diabetes by offering tailored education and care coordination to support positive maternal and fetal outcomes.
