Management of Comorbid Conditions
摘要
Obesity is a complex, multifactorial disease often accompanied by comorbid conditions, such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and cardiovascular disease. Pharmacists play a crucial role in the multidisciplinary management of these individuals. Effective management requires a comprehensive approach that includes lifestyle modifications, pharmacotherapy, and regular monitoring. Pharmacists can optimize medication regimens, provide patient education, and support adherence to treatment plans. Additionally, they can identify and manage drug-related problems, ensuring safe and effective use of medications. Collaboration with other health-care professionals is essential to address the unique needs of each individual. By leveraging their expertise, pharmacists can significantly improve health outcomes and quality of life for individuals living with obesity and its associated comorbidities. This chapter provides general information on the management of common weight-related comorbid conditions for people living with obesity.
