摘要
In this chapter, we can concentrate on the mandible in more detail. At this stage of development, it still consists of two individual bony plates that laterally follow the course of Meckel’s cartilage. Anteriorly, they are still about 500 μm apart. The two cartilage braces are also separated from each other. From this arrangement, a mobility of the mental symphysis at this stage of development may be concluded. The bone formation runs almost still strictly laterally from the cartilage, only in the last third of its course the bone embraces the cartilage brace somewhat from caudal (Figs. 18.1, 18.2, 18.3, 18.4 and 18.5).
