Despite advances in medicine, cancer is a universal problem that often results in death and cannot be cured, both in developed countries and in developing countries. It is very important to provide quality care and quality death to eight million cancer patients in the world in the last stages of their lives. This situation occurs in the terminal period defined as the pre-death period; It brings up issues such as patient care, palliative care, and grief reaction. Palliative care in cancer patients; It is oncological rehabilitation that will relieve the patient in the terminal period when healing is not possible and keep the quality of life at the highest level. During this period, the main goal is not treatment, but to find solutions to the physical, physiological, social, and cognitive problems experienced by cancer patients and their relatives. In this way, patients are tried to control pain, loss of appetite, vomiting, cachexia, weakness, and dyspnea. During this period, what is expected from healthcare professionals is to be able to establish accurate and empathetic communication by being knowledgeable about supporting patients in coping with cancer-related reactions and helping the patient and family during the death process. In order to ensure quality of death and a good death, hospice systems that provide palliative care services need to be established in our country. After death, support should be given to the patient’s relative when necessary for the situation called grief reaction. This study aimed to provide information about oncological and palliative care services provided to cancer patients, a universal health problem, in the last period of their lives.
