Emotions form the fundamental basis of human behavior. Emotion creates a connection between the individual and the environment. The emotional reactions that people exhibit in the face of challenging situations in daily life can sometimes provide solutions to the problems they experience; at other times, they can lead to an increase in problems and the development of new issues. Emotion-focused therapy (EFT) focuses on emotional intelligence during counseling and enhances problem-solving abilities by enabling individuals to experience their emotions. The emotion-focused approach is often applied to people diagnosed with cancer. A cancer diagnosis can be particularly frightening, especially if the type of cancer is aggressive, leading the affected individual to experience stress, anxiety, worry, sadness, or depression. Consequently, many doctors offer therapy to their patients. This study examines interventions for cancer patients using an emotion-focused therapy approach. The session notes, including the techniques applied to patients of different ages, are presented. Cancer patients and their relatives need to express and regulate the emotions they experience for both psychological and physiological wellbeing after diagnosis and during treatment.
