As before, our motivation comes from representation theory. However, for the reader’s benefit we will continue to emphasise the beautiful combinatorial properties that motivate the definition and study of Kazhdan–Lusztig polynomials.We will pay particular attention to the Kazhdan–Lusztig positivity conjecture and the Dyer– Lusztig combinatorial invariance conjecture for these polynomials.
