Herniated cervical disc or spondylosis resulting in cervical radicular pain or radiculopathy is a worldwide burden to society. Generally, once oral medications, physical therapy, and lifestyle-modifying treatments have failed, interventional procedures including steroid nerve root injections and surgical microdiscectomy are recommended for severe persistent cases. Currently, cervical transforaminal injections have been traditionally performed under fluoroscopy or computed tomography (CT) guidance. With the increasing use of ultrasound (US) technology in chronic pain, US-guided spinal procedures have become more popular. US-guided cervical selective nerve root block (CSNRB) is a diagnostic and therapeutic procedure that involves placing the needle outside the neural foramen of the affected nerve root with precise application of local anesthetic and/or steroid injection.
