Cervical facet joint disease represents a significant cause of neck pain, commonly resulting from injuries, degenerative, and/or inflammatory processes. Patients with facetogenic pain can present with symptoms that follow the typical radiation pattern and stiffness in the movement of the cervical spine. Although the optimal therapeutic strategy for facet joint disease is still debated, some invasive procedures are assumed to provide pain relief in patients resistant to conservative therapy. This chapter describes commonly performed ultrasound-guided interventions for facetogenic pain—medial branch and third occipital nerve blocks and intraarticular injections.
