In the modern life scenarios, data security is extremely important and becomes the buzz word. Intruders are now extremely powerful as they have strong computational strength and they have different types of attacks and supplementing devices to steal the data. The data communication security becomes highly vulnerable when information is transmitted over insecure wireless channels. The transmitted message can be a text file, an image or may be an audio/video. So various customized methods are required based on the type of data. Keeping this in mind, in this paper, a secure audio transmission method is proposed. An audio file (input message) is initially converted into an image and then put into a cover image, making very minimal changes in the cover image. The embedded image is then transmitted to the receiver over insecure channel. The receiver retrieves the message, converts it back to the audio file. Implementation results, analysis with associated advantages are also shown in order to validate the feasibility of the presented method. The interesting thing with the proposed method is that, the method is simple and efficient enough to be used in real life applications and at the same time, it can be customized in various aspects depending upon the need and type of data/usage.
