Action: Topics, Goals, Activities, Organisational Models
摘要
The chapter analyses topics, fields, goals, activities and organisational models characterising the groups where the young activists are involved, as these emerge in their descriptions. Focussing on perspectives of action, three main approaches emerge, respectively oriented to: social transformation, building social networks, information and formation. As regards organisational models, various types of processes have emerged, but periodic assembly of group members has consistently been indicated as the fundamental moment and tool in which completed activities are evaluated, future ones are planned, decisions are made, and tasks are assigned. In parallel, the distribution of tasks and roles emerged as often rooted in self-proposal and personal willingness. More in general, regarding decision-making processes, their “horizontal” dimension is often explicitly highlighted, but the presence of asymmetric forms of power and influence within the group is also acknowledged. Horizontalism is presented as a political choice in itself, expressing a rejection of hierarchical dynamics and cultural models typical of current society, but some adhere to it more rigidly while others pragmatically accept complementing it with decision-making tools that imply forms of power.
