Simulation Process for Steam Explosion Pretreatment and Fermentation of Lignocellulosic Waste from Drâa-Tafilalet Region
摘要
The olive industry is one of the main agri-food sectors in the Drâa-Tafilalet region. This activity produces large quantities of lignocellulosic waste rich in cellulose (30.05%) and hemicellulose (20.05%). A detailed study of the bioconversion of these wastes was carried out using steam explosion pretreatment (160 ℃ and 8 bar) followed by alcoholic fermentation (30 ℃ and 1 bar) to produce second-generation bioethanol. To assess the economic feasibility and energy efficiency of the bioconversion process, we are studying the effect of the solid feedstock on the yield of the heat exchanger-based process. To determine the efficiency of the process, the sugar yield was evaluated. The results show that increasing the solid load from 10 to 50% boosts the amount of glucose and xylose recovered, from 230.87 kg/h to 782.72 kg/h and from 106.04 kg/h to 359.5 kg/h respectively. Thus, the Aspen plus simulation results indicate an increase in ethanol yield to 4610.78 tons/year with an annual feedstock throughput of 20,000 tons/year.
