How Smelling Works
摘要
The nose is our most sensitive sensory organ and deeply influences our lives—mostly unconsciously. Only a few molecules are enough and we revel in the scents of spring, a perfume, or a suddenly very interesting person. The nose explores all the aromas of this world for us, from the finest red wine to the most exquisite truffle, while simultaneously awakening memories of long past childhood or beautiful vacation days. Mom’s strawberry jam—heavenly! The herbal scent of an alpine meadow—like the carefree summer holidays of school time!
