Global Unfulfilled Promises: The Recent War on Gaza and the Erosion of Global Partnerships
摘要
This chapter examines the adverse effects of the recent war on Gaza on Sustainable Development Goal 17 (SDG 17), which seeks to strengthen global partnerships for sustainable development. This war has not only caused extensive human and material damage but has also severely undermined international cooperation and the achievement of shared global goals. The war on Gaza has caused a crisis of credibility and erosion of trust, which has complicated diplomatic efforts, peace negotiations, and projects aimed at fostering sustainable development. The destruction of infrastructure and disruption of economic activities in Gaza also have long-term repercussions on regional and global economic stability, hindering efforts to build resilient economies and inclusive societies. This chapter provides a comprehensive examination of how the war on Gaza undermines global partnerships and cooperation and suggests recommendations for mitigating these negative impacts and revitalizing international efforts to achieve SDG 17. The chapter emphasizes the need for sustained international engagement and peacebuilding initiatives, highlighting the critical importance of solidarity and collaboration in overcoming the challenges posed by this war.
