Individualized physical activity prescription should be strongly recommended after completing a cardiac rehabilitation program as well as for individuals with cardiovascular risk factors. Such a long-term intervention with a goal identified and regular reassessment will ensure a patient’s adherence and amplify his/her motivation. The utilization of the existing guidelines on physical activity for individuals with increased cardiovascular risk is still unsatisfactory. Thus, efforts are being made to implement feasible tools for exercise prescription, such as the EXPERT tool, customized exercise intensity calculators, or individually tailored exercise prescriptions on discharge from the cardiac center. With the growing number of exercise activity trackers and programming tools, the next step, in our opinion, should be establishing exercise centers, binding primary and secondary cardiovascular prevention, and supported by meticulous functional capacity and myocardial function assessment. The only way to rejuvenate and well-being is to understand the role of regular physical activity and dietary and psychosocial support for the cardiovascular system.
