Exercise Training Protocols
摘要
Exercise training remains the mainstay of the contemporary comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation program, offering numerous beneficial effects for cardiovascular health. The most common aerobic exercise training protocols endorsed in cardiac rehabilitation facilities include moderate-intensity continuous training complemented by resistance, flexibility, neuromotor exercises, and functional training. However, with the numerous studies exploring the exercise-induced preconditioning phenomenon, there is revitalization of high-intensity interval training as well, and attempts are being made to modify existing interval training protocols, e.g., pyramidal training or interval-to-continuous training. The optimal approach to exercise training programming should be tailored to efficacy and safety and tailored to patients’ needs. The delivery of exercise stimulus during a supervised exercise training program should be sufficient to evoke cardio protection and to allow for gradual training progression.
