On the Legitimacy of Testing Reservoir Rocks in Effective Stresses at the Tilts True Triaxial Testing Facility

This paper presents the results of experiments aimed at substantiating the legitimacy of testing reservoir rocks in effective stresses at the TILTS true triaxial testing facility. For this reason, the first cycle of the triaxial test in effective and total stresses was simulated on the same reservoir sandstone cylindrical specimen using the GT-1.3.9 axisymmetric triaxial compression facility. The stress-strain curves and the dependence of the tangent modulus on the vertical stress were obtained and then compared for the tested specimen. The results of triaxial tests in effective stresses of quarry sandstone cylindrical and cubic specimens carried out using the GT-1.3.9 and TILTS facilities were also compared in this work. The studies carried out in this work allowed us to prove the legitimacy of testing reservoir rocks in effective stresses at the TILTS facility.
