Assessment of Groundwater Protection in the Buzuluk Pine Forest

Buzuluk pine forest has the status of a national park and is located in the Orenburg and Samara regions. It is a rolling plain of the High Trans-Volga region, represented mainly by pine forests, and hydrologically belongs to the Samara River basin. The presence of oil and gas fields in the area creates a high technogenic load on groundwater. Chemical and oil refining enterprises are located in close proximity, increasing the risks of pollution of the geological environment. The purpose of this study is to determine the degree of protection of groundwater in the Buzuluk pine forest. As a result, it was concluded that the most protected aquifers in this territory are in the southwestern, southern and central-eastern parts of the work area, where Neopleistocene deposits are common. The least protected aquifer is the eolian-alluvial lower Neopleistocene-Holocene aquifer, located in the central part of the site and currently the main aquifer, which supplies water to the city of Buzuluk and ensures the existence of the “Buzuluk Bor”.
