Building a Human Rights Program
摘要
In 2011, Jonathan Drimmer joined Barrick Gold Corporation, the world’s largest gold mining company, with a remit to build a global human rights program—the first in the world under the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, which were on the cusp of being adopted. Over the ensuing 8 years, Mr. Drimmer’s colleagues at Barrick and he collaborated with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including Professor John Ruggie, and created a comprehensive program that relied on 4 core learnings, 5 key interpretive pillars, and 6 components. This “4 5 6” approach was honed over time. Numerous programs today emulate aspects of the program Mr. Drimmer and his colleagues created. Through this chapter, he shares key learnings gained through this work.
