This chapter explores the meaning of sustainability leadership, and how fulfilling it can be to weave personal experiences and passions into a sustainability career. It also highlights the contrasting challenges facing sustainability professionals today. Tensions—urgency vs. patience; ideals vs. reality; success vs. winning; and mandatory vs. voluntary—create a platform requiring leaders to be adaptive and creative.
