This concluding chapter identifies critical aspects of the populist aesthetic: First, populism adopts an eclectic, intermedial, and postmodern aesthetic, between stability and disruption, to bridge the gap between politicians and their constituents. Second, representation dynamics differ between parties, with the FN/RN emphasising a nationalist and hierarchical identity, while LFI advocates for a more participatory and horizontal engagement, albeit using symbols that may appear elitist. Third, the populist rise is indicative of a broader socio-political malaise, rooted in issues of identity and disenchantment with established political systems. We, ultimately, call for a transdisciplinary, transnational, and comparative approach, underscoring populism’s cultural, visual, and performative dimensions, across various contexts, to fully grasp the global proliferation of contemporary populist aesthetics.
