Greening the Learning Experience in Higher Education: Design Thinking Approaches to Sustainable STEM Education
摘要
This research builds on the concept of the metaverse-intensive learning experience (MiLEx), extending it to integrate green education principles within STEM disciplines in higher education. The study combines design thinking with MiLEx architecture to create immersive, sustainability-focused learning experiences. It explores how design thinking methodologies can enhance the development of green learning experiences, evaluating the impact on student engagement, sustainability awareness, and the cultivation of future skills. The MiLEx framework, with its focus on personalized paths and collective intelligence, supports the iterative cycles of experiencing, reflecting, and ideation in a green STEM context. The research aims to merge real-life virtual environments to foster continuous, experiential learning, leveraging technology to build practice communities and transformative learning. This integrative approach is anticipated to redefine STEM education, making it a powerful tool for addressing 21st-century challenges and empowering students to actively contribute to sustainable innovation and ecological problem-solving.
