The United Nations has indicated that climate change is the biggest threat to modern humans. Governments, organizations, and businesses internationally are working to find solutions to overcome this threat while maintaining economic prosperity. The Canadian Colleges for a Resilient Recovery (C2R2) has taken the initiative to fill the sustainability workforce development gaps within Canada by forming a coalition of 14 educational institutions representing Canada’s diverse needs and strengths from coast to coast to coast. Canadian colleges, cegèps, and polytechnics are positioned to rapidly develop and deploy training that will support Canada in reaching its goal of a net-zero economy by 2050. With C2R2 as a backbone, a network of institutions with advisement from sector partners was able to share their collective resources, knowledge and strengths to reach a common goal of building economic prosperity within a sustainable future. Such collaboration has seen uptake nationally, receiving federal investments of $49.5 M, allowing the coalition to train 10,990 Canadians through two programs in one year. The work of the coalition has made curriculum development, curriculum sharing and the connection of learners to employers easier. C2R2 continues to expand and support more Canadians, and the coalition model can be replicated within similar partnership efforts internationally.
