Assessing Architects Perspective on Using Sustainable Materials in the UAE Construction Sector
摘要
Rapid urbanization in Gulf nations has spurred infrastructure growth, necessitating sustainable practices to mitigate environmental impacts. The main aim of this study is to explore the adoption of sustainable materials in the UAE construction sector through a qualitative assessment of 16 architects in the UAE. A detailed analysis reveals the emergence of four themes which highlight the current sustainable practices emphasizing resource efficiency and environmental consciousness, challenges persisting in material selection, regulatory complexities and limited local availability. And benefits including reduced carbon emissions and operational expenses, enhanced building longevity and occupant well-being, and finally sustainability drivers such as regulatory frameworks and growing corporate and consumer awareness. The study underscores the importance of sustainable materials in achieving UAE's sustainability goals, emphasizing the need for tailored strategies amidst regional and economic dynamics.
