Through resourceResource-efficient design and usage, CE seeks to increase the lifespan of items and resourcesResource and eliminate waste. However, adopting CE in the construction industryConstruction industry requires a framework and model that conceptualises all CE principles to provide the roadmap for successful implementation. Hence, this book focuses on developing a CE business model to guide CE adoptionAdoption in construction organisationsConstruction organisations. However, this chapter introduces CE in the construction industryConstruction industry by highlighting the evolution of CE and providing details on the study’s context and the research problem. In addition, a basic overview of the study’s significance and objectives are discussed in this chapter.
