Study and Design of a New “MIMO” Printed Antenna Structure for Industrial, Scientific, and Medical Applications

In this article, we have studied and designed a patch antenna array. This MIMO array consists of 4 circular patch antenna elements. In addition, these elements were implemented on a polyester-type substrate characterized by a relative permittivity εr = 3.2, a loss tangent equal to 0.003, and a height h = 9 mm. This biobased substrate is intended for industrial, scientific, and medical applications. In addition, this work is being carried out in the 2.45 GHz ISM (industrial, scientific, and medical) frequency band of 5G. This work aims to achieve adequate performance for 5G medical applications. The antenna array proposed in this paper produces good results such as S11 = −21.57 dB, VSWR = 1.18, bandwidth BW = 0.13 GHz, Gain G = 6.5 dB, and directivity D = 6.4 dB.
