In this paper, we propose designing and optimizing a rectangular patch antenna. We applied two techniques to improve the performance of this antenna: first, we cut two notches of the same size in different positions. Secondly, we tested ground planes of different lengths. Simulation results show the effectiveness of both techniques. They allow the adjustment of the antenna’s operating frequency, as well as its bandwidth.
