This paper comprehensively investigates the convergence of cognitive science and radar technology. By examining the historical evolution of cognitive radar, we elucidate the integration of cognitive processes, such as perception, attention, and learning, into radar system architectures. Our analysis demonstrates how these cognitive processes can enhance radar systems autonomy and decision-making capabilities, enabling them to adapt effectively in real time to complex environments. This work contributes to the advancement of the field by providing a rigorous analysis of the theoretical underpinnings and practical implementations of cognitive radar, focusing on enhancing system autonomy and performance in complex environments.
